El surfista Australiano, Adrian Buchan se llevó el título de campeón de la sexta parada del tour mundial, el Pro Tahiti tras vences en la final nada menos que a Kelly Slater, en una final que pese a los esfuerzos del 11 veces campeón no logró superar la conexión de «ACE» que le permitió dejar fuera de competencia a Mick Fanning, John John Florence y Jordy Smith lo que no es menor cuando sumas al 20 perfecto de esta ola.
con este resultado, la tabla de posiciones cambia ligeramente, dejando nuevamente a Kelly Slater (USA) 38,950 pts en el número uno, seguido de cerca por Mick Fanning (AUS) 37,900 pts, tercero se ubica el defensor del título 2012 Joel Parkinson (AUS) 30,700 pts, seguido en cuarto lugar por Jordy Smith (ZAF) 29,200 pts y quinto el eterno campeón sin estrella, Taj Burrow (AUS) 25,400 pts, Adrian Buchan se elevó con este resultado al décimo lugar de la general.
